Wave of Light Ministries

These days, it just always seems that life is full of so much pain. But I wonder, if I told you that there was a way to be saved from this, would you believe me? Well through Jesus, God has given us all a way to be saved from pain and sin. Yet even now there are still so many people living in darkness despite this. However, now God has promised that He is bringing a huge wave of Light to this nation of Japan. Together, let's share this Light, and open the eyes of those who can't see!

Sensoji Temple

Our Story

"In May of 2023, I lived in Asakusa. During that time, I would go to Sensoji Temple every night. My thinking was, if people can come here all day every day, from all over the world to worship false gods made by the hands of man, then surely I can come here to worship the one true God. So every night at exactly midnight, I would go there to read my Bible, pray, and worship God. I figured that His presence had probably never been welcomed in such a place before, and so I wanted this place to know God. On one particular day, I felt God calling me to go to the temple earlier than usual, and in the midst of many things that night, I felt God speaking to me regarding the future of Japan. I had been reading the book of Acts at the time, and I heard God speaking to me about how in the early days of the church, the apostles were told to preach the gospel everywhere except for the Province of Asia. This wasn't because God had forgotten about the Province of Asia, rather that His plans were simply for later, when of course, countless people there were saved. I heard God explaining to me that this was also the case with Japan, that it wasn't a coincidence that less than 1% of the population were Christian. God's plans for this nation simply hadn't come yet. But I felt Him tell me that a revolution is coming, in which people are going to be saved in numbers unlike anything we've ever seen before, and that He is going to make a nation of believers out of Japan. Now, we continue to work, seeking to see this coming revolution, and the unimaginable impact it will have on the people of Japan. So now, together with all who are helping, let's continue to push toward this incredible future!" - Mitsuha

Vision Statement:

Our vision for this ministry is to someday see the reality of

this coming spiritual revolution fulfilled in Japan. We want to see the people saved in unprecedented numbers, as the millions of lost souls in Japan have their eyes and hearts opened to Jesus, the God and Lord of the universe. We want to celebrate together as the chains of the enemy fall away, and these people find true spiritual peace and freedom for the first time in their lives. We want to see a nation of people transformed by the power and love of the Holy Spirit, in a way that man alone could never accomplish. We believe that this will someday happen, and until the day of the second coming, we aim to be here, pointing people to God and preparing the way for His return.

Mission Statement:

We are not the first ministry group in Japan, though we do aim to be the first of a particular sort. Our aim is to bring the Christian Gospel to the Japanese people in a way that will resonate with them on a very personal, life-changing level. Far too often ministries from overseas that seek to do work in Japan seem to simply bring with them a Western version of the Gospel and Christianity, with the aim to implement it in any given nation the same way that they would in their home countries. This is not inherently bad by any means, though it may perhaps be unrealistic to expect work such as this to have a “One Size Fits All” type of approach. What works in America will not be as effective in Japan. What works in Guatemala will not be as effective in France. Think of a classroom full of children. All children in that class likely don’t learn in the same way. Some may be visual learners, while others may need to be more hands on. Others need only to have something explained verbally, and then they will be fine. It’s something like this. This doesn’t mean that the work being done by many groups is bad. - Not by a longshot - This is simply to say that a more catered approach specifically designed for a specific nation or people group, which doesn’t change what is being taught but simply how, will likely be much more effective. In addition to this, many groups in nations such as Japan often tend to function essentially as Western Groups with Western practices, which just happen to be in foreign countries. Oftentimes events, media posts and websites, and things of the sort will all happen primarily in English, while the languages and cultures of the targeted people almost seem to be something of an afterthought. Again, there is likely no ill-intent there. This is just again, a Western approach being awkwardly applied in areas outside of the West. Our goal is to avoid things such as this, and to place almost all of our attention and resources toward reaching the Japanese people, as we seek to work with God to see His Kingdom come, and His Will be done in the nation of Japan. This will include almost exclusive use of the Japanese language at most gatherings and outreach events taking place in Japan, and extra efforts to keep things from becoming overly Westernized. Again, we really must affirm that there is nothing wrong with doing things as in the West, we just seek to find a more applicable, personalized approach for the people we are serving.

Statement of Faith

First and foremost, we believe above all else that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, sent to Earth by God the Father to die for the sins of all mankind, that through faith in Him we may all be saved from sin and death, and receive eternal life in Heaven.

We believe that there is only one true God, and that this singular God is simultaneously three persons, existing as God the Father, Jesus the Son, and the Holy Spirit, though still only being one God. All three are equal in every conceivable way, and are still active to this day.

We believe that in the beginning when God created everything, all was good. We believe that Satan, who was once an angel, rebelled out of jealousy toward God, and when cast out of Heaven, brought many angels with him, who were themselves deceived. When God initially created humanity in His image, man was without sin, until the first two humans were deceived by Satan and chose to sin against God. Because of this, mankind was plagued with sin and death, and due to sin was separated from God. Because of sin and evil, man suffered many hardships and tragedies, though even in these times God remained faithful to those who called upon Him. God’s love for His creation continued despite the sin and evil present, and out of His perfect love, He offered His own son as a perfect sacrifice to forgive the sins of man and bridge the gap separating them from Him.

We believe that Jesus is God, that He was sent by God the Father to the Earth, and that during His time here, He was fully God, but fully Man. He went through all of the trials and temptations of any other man, yet through them all remained forever without sin. In His life He set the example for all people to follow, that we may live in righteousness as He had. Jesus was ultimately crucified on a cross as a sacrifice for all of mankind, taking upon Himself all of our sins, that our debt may be paid through Him. Jesus was dead for three days, but was then resurrected by God the Father, conquering death and Hell.

We believe that through faith in Jesus, all people who turn to Him will be saved from sin and death, and receive eternal life with God in Heaven. We believe that salvation comes only from faith, and from grace, and that it can be found through no one aside from Christ Jesus. When someone accepts Christ and is saved, we believe that He (Jesus) then baptizes that believer with the Holy Spirit. Through the Holy Spirit, God dwells within every believer, giving us the authority and power of Christ, that we may in turn use these gifts to serve God. We believe that the Holy Spirit is still active and present even today, as well as the existence of spiritual gifts and miracles.

We believe in water baptism and partaking in The Lord’s Supper, though do not believe that these are part of salvation. If spiritual salvation is an inner occurrence, these could be seen as outward expressions of one's inner salvation and faith in the Lord. We do, however, believe that all believers should partake in these, as they are of great importance, and that through these events, God greatly blesses and strengthens His people.

We believe that someday in the future Jesus Christ will literally return to the Earth, and at this time He will reign on Earth over all kingdoms and peoples. Nobody, not even the Son knows the time of this return, though we believe that we as the body of Christ should always be preparing, that we would find ourselves like a guard with a well-oiled lamp at the time of His return. After Jesus’ return, God will destroy all wickedness and evil in the world, and Satan, the demons, and all evil people will be cast into the lake of fire for all of eternity.

We believe that the Church is the body of Christ, with Jesus as the head and the ultimate authority. It is through the Church that God does much of His work here on Earth. We believe that the Church is the collective group of all believers across the world, and that within this body God has assigned various different roles and purposes, such as apostles, prophets, teachers, pastors, evangelists, intercessors, and many more. We acknowledge and believe the Biblical claims that all believers are inherently priests of the Lord, and believe that God has a plan and a purpose for each person within the body of Christ.

We believe in the importance of following the Great Commission, which states that we are to go out and make followers of all peoples and nations. As followers of Christ we are to live our lives with heavy emphasis placed on sharing the word of God with those who have not yet received Him. We are here not to be served, but to serve those around us, that through our service the love of God might be shown to those whom we serve.

We believe that when a believer in Christ dies, they are immediately joined with God in His presence, and that from thereon they will be with Him for all of eternity, free from pain, sin, and sadness. We believe also, that when an unbeliever dies, they will find themselves in Hell, apart from God, where there is eternal sorrow and anguish.

Finally, we believe that the Bible alone is the infallible, perfect Word of God. The 66 books within the Bible are the only God-Inspired scriptural works, and the only writings which are fully without error. Beyond anything else in the world, the Bible is ultimately the source for all that we believe and know, and dictates all that we should do in our lives. Beyond this, nothing else can be said to have absolute authority.
